Chibiusa/Rini first appears in Sailormoon R when she interupts Mamo-chan and Usagi's tender moment by falling on Usako's head. Chibiusa accuses Usagi of stealing her <=(Chibiusa's) mom's hair-do then runs off. When Usagi gets home she finds that her family has been hypnotized and now has a new cousin: Chibiusa!
It turns out that Chibiusa has come from the future to find the Silver Imperium Crystal so she can help her mother who has been trapped by the DarkMoon Family. Between trying to escape the Four Sisters and falling in love with Mamoru, Chibiusa causes Usagi annoyance and rage, but it's nothing Usako wouldn't go through for someone she cares about. While Chibiusa is in the past, she is incredibly unhappy. After all, she's only six , misses her mommy, and believes Usagi hates her. She doesn't understand why she has to be the one to do this hard task and is constantly reminded of how unfair it is in her many failed attempts to gain the Silver Crystal.
The senshi meet Sailorpluto, Gardian of Time as they go into the future to try and save Chibiusa's mom. As it turns out, Sailormoon, the senshi, and Tuxedo mask meet what they come to find is Mamo-chan/Darien's future self, King Endymion, and *SPOILER* Chibiusa's father! (Usagi, or Neo-Queen Serenity, is Chibiusa's mom, of course.) The look on their faces is priceless when they find out!
After returning to the past, or rather the present, the DarkMoon Family is twice as eager to smite Sailormoon. And there is an even bigger problem: Chibiusa has joined the Dark Moon Family! The evil Wiseman, who has up to this point been up to that point using the Dark Moon Family to do his dirty work, has used Chibiusa's fear and insecurity to convinceher that her parents hate her and that she has no friends. He also promises her the fulfilment of her dream: The Wiseman will make her a lady. With the help of the Dark Crystal's evil energy, Chibiusa becomes Black/Wicked Lady, intent upon destroying her "cruel, unloving" parents. After a touching healing of Blacklady and battle with the Wiseman, the future is saved (for now) and Chibiusa is back to herself again. The parting is sweet and tearful as Chibiusa goes back to the future.
Chibiusa pops up again to be a senshi-in-training, Sailorchibimoon. There is an entire season dedicated to Chibiusa so if you want to know about her in depth, go to one of the shrines below.
