Sailor Moon is pretty much the anti-hero. She is clumsy, wimpy, and a chronic crybaby, definately not what you expect from the destined queen of the universe. But she does get better and by the end of the NA dub series, she can actually defend herself without letting out one of those ear-peircing wails that drive everyone crazy. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Usagi/Serena first appeared in a "Moon Star is Born" (Series 1, Episode 1) as we saw her going about her morning routine: Getting up late, eating breakfast on the run, and almost forgetting her bunny-and-star patterned lunch bag (hint, hint). On her way to school, Usagi saw a bunch of little kids picking on a cat. She chased them away and picked the kitty up. (In the manga she accidentaly steps on the cat in her blind run towards school.) The cat had a bandaid on her forehead, which Usagi promptly pulled off, revealing a beautiful, gold crescent moon. The cat hissed and jumped out of Usagi's arms onto a nearby car and stared at the astonished girl. Suddenly Usagi remembered she was late to school and dashed off with a wail.

Later that day, Usagi fell asleep while daydreaming about what it would be like to be like Sailor V, Usagi's idol in a school girl sailor outfit. She was still asleep when the black cat crept into her room via the open window. Usagi started up and you can imagine her astonishment when the cat spoke to her!

The cat told Usagi her name was Luna, and that she had come to guide Usagi in being the champion of justice, Sailor Moon. Usagi didn't believe it and thought she was dreaming, but then Luna charmed up a locket and told Usagi to say "Moon Prism Power! [Make up!]" which she did.

Suddenly Usagi was transformed into Sailor Moon! And so Luna and Usagi's evil-fighting career began.

Another of Usagi's alter-ego's is Princess Serena/Serenity, the Moon Princess. As the Moon Princess, Usagi is her strongest, and she uses the Imperiun Silver Crystal against her most powerful foes. Usagi only becomes the Moon Princess when desperately needed because using the Silver Crystal to it's full potential will drain all of her energy, including that which she needs to live. Queen Serenity once told Usagi that Usagi could become the Moon Princess if her desire to save her friends was strong enough.

Usagi other alter-ego's are SuperSailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon, and Neo-Queen Serenity. She becomes Super Sailor Moon when the three outer senshi, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Pluto, find the Holy Grail and put it together. (Later she gives the grail to Mistress 9 and is able to transform on her ow because her heart is the purest of anyone's. See Sailorsaturn's bio for more info on Mistress 9). Eternal Sailor Moon is even stronger. She looks more like her true identity, Selenity/Serena the Moon Princess, when transformed into Eternalsailormoon than in any other alter-ego. Neo-Queen Serenity is Usagi's future self, and the ruler of Crystal Tokyo in the 30th century.

In the beginning, before Usagi gets the hang of being Sailor Moon, a *dashing* man in a black tuxedo and white mask often comes to her rescue. His name is Tuxedo Kamen/Mask and he comes just in the nick of time to save Sailor Moon from the Negavers
