The best way to describe Minako's personality is as a mix of the other four senshi. Like Usagi/Serena, she is bubbly, silly, irresponsible, and lazy (especially when it comes to school work). Like Lita/Makoto, Minako isn't afraid to kick some butt and, although she'd not quite as bold or brave, Venus and Jupiter often double up on their opponent. Minako is also the most physically active of the senshi. She loves gymnastics and volleyball. Next to Amy/Ami, Minako is probably one of the most serious senshi, especially when it comes to matters of the heart (the planet Venus is named for the Roman goddess of love and beauty). She is also the most mature of all the senshi, due to her early run in with heartbreak (see below). Minako and Rei/Raye are probably Usagi's closest friends in the group (although Minako is a lot more open about it ^_~). Both know their duty to protect the Moon Princess and are a lot quicker the put themselves in danger for her. In "Day of Destiny," Rei and Minako are the last to die saving their princess. Rei and Minako also fall into the role of leader naturally, and both have a little more zest to them than the others.
Sailorvenus, not Sailormoon, is the leader of the Inner Senshi. Sailormoon is the Moon Princess, keeper of the Mystical/Imperium Silver Crystal, and it is the duty of the Inner Senshi to protect her at all costs. Sailorvenus the Inner Senshi's leader, most likely because she was the very first of them to be awakened and has more training.
Which brings us to Sailor V! Sailor V was the very first senshi to ever appear. Naoko Takeuchi's idea for creating a sexy superheroine in a sailor costume was first introduced in "Code Name wa SailorV" ("Code Name: SailorV) published in Run-Run magazine in May of 1993. Then, with the encouragement of her editor and some inspiration from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, she took the concept a step futher and created a five member sailor team of warriors for love and justice. In both the Manga and Anime, you see Usagi wishing to be like her superheroine "V-chan" before she even meets Luna.
Artemis, the white cat with a crescent moon on his forehead, is to Minako what Luna is to Usagi. Artemis and Minako have an interesting relationship, though, as he is always calling her lazy and stupid, and she is calling him a transexual cat ("Artemis" is the name of the Roman goddess of the Moon. Originally, in the planning stages of "Sailormoon", one of the Sailor Senshi was named Artemis).
Before becoming SailorV, Minako lived in England for a while with her good friend Katarina, a police officer, and the man she loved, Alan. Unknown to Minako, Alan and Hikaru had fallen in love but didn't want to tell her because they, being a few years older than she, thought of her as a child. Then one night Katarina and Sailor-V are doing a routine crime assignment. Both enter an abandonded building. Suddenly a man (youma/being of the Negaverse) throws a granade which exploded at their feet. Katarina is thrown several feet and the warehouse is engulfe
